Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the SSC Officer positions, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Age Limit (as on 01-07-2025)

  • Minimum Age: 19 Years
  • Maximum Age: 25 Years
  • Born not earlier than 02 Jul 2000 and not later than 01 Jul 2006, both dates inclusive

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates should possess a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

Selection Process

The selection process for SSC Officers includes the following stages:

  1. Shortlisting of Applications: Based on academic performance and other criteria, candidates will be shortlisted for further selection.
  2. SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a two-stage selection procedure at the Services Selection Board (SSB):
    • Stage I: Includes Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT). Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be sent back on the same day.
    • Stage II: Comprises Psychological Tests, Group Testing Officers Tasks, and Personal Interview over four days.
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo a medical examination to assess their fitness for commissioning.

Training and Tenure

Selected candidates will undergo training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. The duration of training is 49 weeks. Upon successful completion, candidates will be granted Short Service Commission in the rank of Lieutenant. The initial tenure is 10 years, extendable by 4 years.

Pay Scale and Benefits

SSC Officers are entitled to a lucrative pay scale and various benefits:

  • Pay Scale: Level 10 (₹56,100 - ₹1,77,500)
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500 per month
  • Dearness Allowance (DA): As applicable
  • Other Allowances: Depending on the place of posting and nature of duties
  • Insurance Cover: ₹75 lakhs (all ranks)
